Exactly, the feeling when somebody who believes they understand juicing because of the letters behind their name.
There should be a "Most Clueless about Juicing Award", if there were such an award, Lisa Mallonee would definitely be nominated for it!
The truth is, our bodies DO HAVE a built in detox system - it's called Fasting.
When you fall asleep, your body switches from an external fuel to internal fuel. Specifically, internal fuel is when your body is using carbohydrate reserves and fat depots for fuel. Your body does that automatically every night. During deep sleep, the body takes everything it needs from within and uses internal energy to cleanse and detoxify the system! Halitosis (bad breath) and a coated tongue in the morning are signs of detox. For that reason, a coated tongue is a sign that you are indeed a suitable candidate for a fast.
In fact, our body recuperates and cleanses during sleep. Fasting is nothing but an extension of this nightly process. Juice Fasting is a slower, gentler way of detox.
Our system gets continually congested by an excess of animal protein which leads to putrefaction and excess starchy carbohydrates which leads to fermentation. As soon as we stop eating, the burden of incoming waste is relieved so recovery and cleansing may begin - that's true detox!
Our toxicity comes from the foods we eat, the air we breathe, the chemicals we use on our skin, household products we clean with, and building materials we use; but this list is almost never ending. Just think about the processed foods we buy these days: they are acidic, mucus forming, energy-robbing and protein-toxic products. Accumulation of these toxins will clog up your system with mucus and waste-matter. This toxicity and mucus are stored in all tissues of our body, but mostly in sinuses, lungs, liver, the skin, the kidneys and the thyroid. Have you ever thought about the
amount of mucus that comes out of your sinuses during a cold? Many diseases like colds and natural detoxification processes that manifest themselves in “diseases” are an effort of your body to purge the accumulated toxins and mucus from your clogged system. Just imagine all that mucus clogging up your bronchial tubes, lungs, stomach,
kidneys and bladder. Only because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not a fact. Accumulated mucus is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, parasites and viruses. Those nasty little critters live of our acidic andtoxic body. Our immune system seems to be on high alert in a state of acidosis and toxicity.
In truth, fasting is the most effective way for your body to regenerate the digestive system without harmful side effects to your metabolism. It’s also the only natural and healthy way to heal ulcers and hemorrhoids.
There are so many facts wrong in this paragraph; I don't know where to begin. Let's start with fiber. Yes, fiber is very important in our diet. Our body loves fiber. But here's the thing, you don't want fiber in your juice when you're fasting or juicing. Because fiber somewhat hinders assimilation of life-giving nutrients.
Remember, you want to extend the fasting process of the night. By drinking only nutrient-rich juice without fiber, you signal the system that the fast hasn't ended. Because as soon as you put solid food into your stomach, you will stop fasting and cleansing. To explain, the word „break-fast” comes from Old English and means - breaking the fast! You are literally breaking your nightly fast with the first bite of muffin or bagel (which seems to be the staple in western countries).
Yes, it's a possibility that some people gain the weight back after a juice fast or cleanse. But see, the problem isn't the juice or the fast, the problem is with the individual. If you don't make an effort to change your ways after the juice-cleanse, how are you expecting your body to keep the weight off. As Michael Jackson sang. "I'm Starting With The Man In The Mirror, I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways." And yes, we can make a change by changing OUR ways we eat and treat food.
We have come to believe - since the Government and some Registered Dieticians think they know about nutrition - that our body only requires calories to function. I have found that to be false.
What is a calorie? A calorie is for sure not nutrition! 1 Calories is the approximate amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius at a pressure of one atmosphere. Our bodies don't crave calories to function. Our bodies need nutrients, minerals, vitamins and enzymes.
The sugar level myth is strong with this one! See, there it is again. She has a limited idea of how sugars work in the body. Let me make it clear. Fructose - what we also call fruit sugar - is found in Fruit. When we drink raw and freshly squeezed fruits on an empty stomach, the sugar needs absolutely NO digestion! The consumed fructose from the juice is absorbed in the stomach. The liver isn't needed or involved in this process. Whereas breakfast cereals, bagels, and milk-products need to get the digestive organs - like the liver, gallbladder and pancreas - involved in digestion.
You know what needs to be limited. Dieticians, who don't know healthy foods if it was streaming out of a juicer!
Seriously, her statement is ridiculous. Why would you limit life-giving nutrients? To have more space for the recommended daily amount of grains, or dairy or animal flesh? This just blows my mind. Limiting minerals, vitamins and enzymes. This is exactly why we have such a poor knowledge of nutrition in our world. Teachers like her. It's not only sad but infuriating.
Your body has a hard time ggetting to the nutrients in vegetables and fruits because it’s encased in fiber. Some 90% of the nutrients in produce we eat are eliminated with the vegetable fiber as it passes through the body. The most valuable things in life - like the vital part of fruits and vegetables are the most difficult to reach because they are deep within the fibers. The reason juicing is imperative to our health is because the juicer is separating the fiber from the juice; making the vitamins and minerals easily available to our body; where they can be used entirely in the nourishment and regeneration of the cells, tissues, glands and organs of our body. Our digestive system can absorb juice within minutes without weighing down the gastrointestinal tract.
Oral hygiene is important. Cleaning your teeth and taking care of them is VERY important. This paragraph is an article on it's own, and I would like to not get into it in this post. Ok, I have couple of remarks. Don't use fluoride toothpastes. Only use all natural toothpaste with minerals and essential oils in them. Teeth are porous, so they do detox and push out toxins while fasting and cleansing. Using fluoride and glycerin filled toothpastes will hinder and harm the process.
Juicing is a better alternative to fast food? Who is this woman? (Palm to the head moment) We ARE Fruitarians, for goodness' sake, it's not only a good alternative to fast foods, it's THE food. There she goes on again about the calories. Please refer to the top for the explanation about calories. Raw, freshly juiced fruits like orange, lemon and watermelon are one of the best foods you can eat! Raw juices aren't concentrated foods! If it would be concentrated food, it would be dehydrated or boiled down. Raw fruit juice is pure and healthy. Period.
Oh boy, actually you can solve a lifetime of mistakes in a short time frame! There are literally thousands of people who have reversed Type 2 Diabetes in only 30 days on a juice fast. There are hundred of thousands who have reversed multiple degenerative diseases in 2-4 weeks on juices.
"The proof of the pudding is eating it." or "The proof of the juice is drinking it". What it really means, just do your research.
There are so many amazing stories of people who have reversed a lifetime of eating mistakes by juicing. Like I said before, a juice cleanse is the perfect start to a new lifestyle. Why would you do a juice cleanse and revert to eating garbage after?
Take away food from a sick man’s stomach, and you have begun, not to starve the sick
So, now I would like to leave you with this. Please get educated about nutrition, detox, health, fasting and juicing!
Don't just take anybodies word for it. Take the word of somebody who has changed their life by implementing juicing into their lives! Take the word of somebody who has finally taken control of destructive eating habits like emotional eating, binging and dieting. Take the word of somebody who has lost 60+ pounds of fat, mucus and toxins from their body and finally feels herself again. And take the word of somebody who juiced themselves out of depression. Someone who is juicing for more than 20+ years!
