Over centuries, mankind had to deal with a steadily changing food supply. Depending on seasonal fluctuations or greater natural disasters, either plenty or little food was available. As a consequence, people in different areas of the world developed sophisticated strategies, e.g., seasonal fasting, to handle and overcome these problems. Possibly, in these early days, people discovered also the healing power of fasting periods. Interestingly, in all religions worldwide we find instructions for and reports on fasting strategies in order to cure body and soul. In Europe, specifically the German physician Otto Buchinger was one of the first to observe and document systematically the effects of fasting on a variety of diseases and to develop a concept of therapeutic fasting. - Andreas Michalsen, MD, PhD, Centre for Natural Healing, Immanuel Hospital Berlin
Never confuse Therapeutic Fasting with Reduced Calorie Intake Diets! Therapeutic Fasting is researched and practised by thousands of clinics and Naturopaths worldwide. It has been quoted and research in multiple medicinal journals far and wide.
You're probably wondering why you don't really hear about Therapeutic Fasting in the main stream media in a positive way. It's simple really, they are scared of Fasting Therapies.
Because the doctors, governments and drug companies don't want YOU (the money maker) to know about healthy, simple effective treatments for degenerative diseases.
Now you're thinking, wait a minute, that sounds like a conspiracy theory! Ok, that could be it.
Or - it's the truth and we all have been lead to believe that poison and toxins heal (drugs, pharmaceuticals ) while natural healing therapies, like fasting, have stop working.
Corporations make billions of dollars every year by selling us (the people) pain medication, anti-depressants, chemotherapy, vaccines and OCD's (over the counter drugs) because they made us believe that our body can't do without, can't heal without and relies on the drugs.
"Disease" is a nasty word used by the medical community. We are made to believe that there are thousands of different diseases, but the truth of the matter is that our body is manifesting symptoms of toxicity, where acidosis and mucus create the biggest concern. It is foolish to treat toxicity with toxins in the form of medications. We are made to believe that there are thousands of different diseases, but the truth is that our body is manifesting symptoms of toxicity and the biggest concerns are acidosis and mucus. It is so naive to treat toxicity with toxins in the form of medications.
Just imagine for a second, you over salted the soup. I know you're a good cook - but let's just assume for a second, now to fix the soup, you add more SALT! Is this action going to FIX the saltiness of the soup or is it going to make it worse?
It's obviously going to make it way worse. You can't expect to add more toxins (drugs) into the sick and toxic body, and expect to correct or resolve the problems.
But I'm not toxic! Honey, we ALL are.
How often do you eat for comfort or overindulge?
When you feel sad? After you had an altercation with your spouse? You have to be particularly careful; this tends to lead to food addiction remarkably quickly. After eating, you will feel worse than before. Please don’t try to numb your feelings with food; it never works. Realizing you just ate a box of cookies will also lead to resentment and anger. Taking a walk to clear your mind or simply having an open discussion will make more sense and does not harm your body.
When you feel stressed out? The junk we eat when we feel stressed out does pack a punch! Some of the foods we choose are often sugar, fat, and flour. Something that will help with stress situations is to say: STOP! Breathe for a couple of minutes and take a break from life. I used to give myself a time out. Taking a couple of minutes to yourself and listening to relaxing music can make you feel better. My number one tip on dealing with stress is cleaning. Start cleaning your house! You see, frustration and stress just seem to melt away. A nice cup of hot herbal tea and exercise is truly a healthy solution to managing stress.
When you go out for dinner with friends? The best approach is to take your time. Don’t try to eat everybody under the table; it’s not a smart idea trying to keep up with your husband or other people, period. Take your time with eating, put the fork and knife down once in a while and chew thoroughly. You already know this fact I’m about to tell you, but I will say it anyway, (just try to stop me!) So here it goes, eat slower so you can eat less! In other words, your brain needs about 20 minutes to register fullness and satisfaction. It’s not your brains fault that you can empty a box of cookies in as little as 5 minutes. If fattening and toxic foods are your choice of “drug”, at least eat slowly to consume less of it. On bad days, I could inhale a family-size bag of chips without thinking about the consequences (and the consequences always come, don’t they?).
However, eating steamed or raw means eating fewer calories and more nutrients because raw food takes a whole lot of time to chew. I’m not kidding, have you tried to take a bite of an apple and swallow it without chewing? Impossible! Fresh produce contains colon-friendly fiber and waste-clearing water for a remarkably low calories count, which our system loves.
