“Nature gives you the face you have at twenty; it is up to you to merit the face you have at fifty.” Coco Chanel A laugh-line here, a pouch or a sag there. Is your body mirroring your true age or is it making you seem older than you are? At 40, I caught myself a couple of times examining my reflection more than thoroughly. Is this really me? Our aging begins when the normal process of cell regeneration and rebuilding slows. This slowdown is caused by the accumulation of waste products in the tissues which interfere with the nourishment of our cells. Because our cells need a constant supply of oxygen and nourishment in the form of minerals and vitamins, we are directly responsible for how we age. Some of the reasons why cell regeneration can slow down:
If your cells are deprived of nourishment they require, they will start to degenerate and break down. Only healthy and vital cells can successfully replace and rebuild healthy cells. Therefore, if the normal process is diminished, you start to grow old faster and earlier. Even our resistance to diseases will decline and you’ll get sick more often. There are many components of aging but nutrition, smoking, alcohol and pollutants are the main contributors. Let’s focus on nutrition; after all, nutrition is my specialty. Most importantly, focus on efficient elimination! A sluggish metabolism and constipation can and will result in inefficient elimination. You don’t need a vivid imagination to know what kind of mess a backed-up pipe leaves behind. Retention and accumulation of toxic wastes in the tissues will interfere with cell nourishment, which causes disease and premature aging. |
