Your body knows when it has to rest and the “tasks” it has to accomplish while you’re asleep to keep your body running smoothly! In fact, it recuperates and cleanses during sleep. On a side note, your body needs at least 3 hours to digest carbohydrate rich meals and 4-5 hours to digest heavy fatty or protein meals. Remember to stop eating 3-4 hours before bedtime. When you fall asleep, your body switches from an external fuel to internal fuel. Specifically, internal fuel is when your body is using carbohydrate reserves and fat depots for fuel. I know it sounds crazy, but your body does that automatically every night. During deep sleep, the body takes everything it needs from within and uses internal energy to cleanse and detoxify the system! Halitosis (bad breath) and a coated tongue in the morning are signs of detox. For that reason, a coated tongue is a sign that you are indeed a suitable candidate for a fast. Why not support your body during detox? In the morning after a good night’s sleep (hopefully), your body starts booting up. A glass of warm spring water and a squeeze of lemon will detoxify your liver, and with your first bite, it switches from internal energy to external energy intake. To explain, the word „break-fast” comes from Old English and means - breaking the fast! You are literally breaking your nightly fast with the first bite of muffin or bagel (which seems to be the staple in western countries). Therefore, fasting is a natural part of your life. Fasting For Detoxification and Prevention
Fasting is a temporary abstinence from solid foods and addictive substances like alcohol, coffee, and drugs. This is for therapeutic or even for religious purposes. Fasting will support your body by resting the digestive system and relieving pressure on your circulation. As soon as you put solid food into your stomach, you will stop fasting and cleansing. Nobody should undertake a fast of any length without thoroughly understanding what he or she is doing and why they’re doing it. We must essentially understand the miracle that is Fasting – Fasting and Starvation are two entirely different things, where Fasting is constructive in nature and Starvation is destructive in nature! – Fasting for Health and Long Life, by Hereward Carrington To understand fasting, is to understand healing. There is enough energy and nourishment for weeks in our depots (liver, jiggly parts, dead cells and toxins...), before an average person runs out of internal energy. Which juicer to buy is always an intriguing question, and it depends on you and how you expect the juicer to perform. Are you going to juice once a week, 2-3 times or every day? Are you ready to invest a hefty chunk of money for a commercial juicer?
There are so many different juicers out there. Choose a juicer that is easy to clean, easy to use and one that doesn’t require you to take out a second mortgage on your house. Love your juicer and it will love you back. The first choice you have to make before buying a juicer is the money factor. How much are you willing to invest into a juicer (YOUR HEALTH)? The second choice to make is the mechanical factor. Understanding the mechanics, pros and cons of centrifugal and masticating juicer will help you decide which juicer is best for your personal needs. Centrifugal Juicers
If you have very little time to spend each day on juicing, the Breville Centrifugal Juicer could be a good choice for you. Centrifugal juicers have a chopping blade that shreds the fruit and vegetables into tiny pieces and force the juice through a mesh strainer. There is some nutrient loss due oxidation. Because there's air introduced through the fast spinning the juice tends to oxidize quicker and has no shelf life. The juicer is quite noisy.
If you're on a very small budget, the centrifugal juicer could be the best choice for you. Due to its mechanics, the centrifugal juicer can be less expensive than masticating juicers. Depending on the materials used some masticating juicers can be less expensive than centrifugal juicers. No matter plastic body or stainless steel, the mechanic of the centrifugal juicer will always produce a lower quality juice than the masticating juicer.
Masticating Juicers
Masticating juicers are great for extracting the most amount of juice with a long shelf life. Because masticating juicers don't introduce large amount of air (oxygen) to the juice, they wont oxidize as quickly as the centrifugal juices. If you need your juices to stay fresh and nutrient rich for a long period of time - the masticating juicer is the choice for you. Juice from masticating juicer will stay fresh in the fridge for several days.
If you want the best quality juice, with the most yield, and long shelf life, then the masticating juicer or the twin gear juicer is for you. Twin gear juicer are the most expensive juicers and yield even larger amount of juice than the masticating juicers.
Twin Gear Juicers
According to “Enzymes: The Fountain of Life”, by K. Miehlke, R. M. Williams, D. A. Lopez, Enzymes are a measure of our life and immunity. “The immune system depends heavily on enzymes to conduct its protective functions. When enzyme activity stops, life stops and the person or organism dies!” In other words, enzymes are our supply of the vital energy of life.
For every chemical reaction that occurs in the body, enzymes provide the stimulus. No mineral, vitamin or hormone, can do any work without enzymes. A simple way to describe what enzymes do is this: Enzymes are the Managers of a company and vitamins and minerals are workers. The Manager tells the workers what, and how to do, while the worker’s job is to carry out the job. Without the Manager (enzymes), certainly no work gets done! Vital are also coenzymes, which support some enzymes function (not all enzymes have coenzyme). Various vitamins and minerals also serve as coenzyme. Magnesium is an example. It activates many functions and has lots of responsibilities. If it’s not available to the enzyme, the enzyme can’t work. There is no breathing, no digestion, no growth, no blood coagulation, no sense perception, and no reproduction without enzymes. Each enzyme has one job and one job only. Enzymes are made by the body and are involved in all body processes, including breathing, thinking, talking, moving, and immune function. Our body manufactures digestive enzymes in the pancreas, in the mouth, stomach and small intestine. Enzymes are especially critical for digesting food properly. Many nutritional studies have shown that a regular diet of cooked, microwaved or canned foods causes the development of chronic and degenerative diseases and premature aging followed by early death. How is this even possible? In one sentence, cooking food destroys the essential plant enzymes. They are more heat-sensitive than vitamins and are the first to be destroyed during cooking. They are destroyed by being heated above 118 degrees Fahrenheit and are deactivated or destroyed by pasteurizing, canning, and microwaving. Pedialyte might come to mind, but let's rethink this! "Pedialyte, a miserable chemically loaded twin of Gatorade marketed to the American Mothers as something revolutionary new and healthful. Well, I have done my best digging for it. And? And I have found nothing, zero value!" - Nick, PhD in Organic Chemistry - DyeDiet Blog Electrolytes in Pedialyte and Gatorade are important because they are what your cells (especially nerve, heart, muscle) use to maintain voltages across their cell membranes and to carry electrical impulses (nerve impulses, muscle contractions) across themselves and to other cells.
Your kidneys work to keep the electrolyte concentrations in your blood constant despite changes in your body. For example, when you exercise heavily, you lose electrolytes in your sweat, particularly sodium and potassium. These electrolytes must be replaced to keep the electrolyte concentrations of your body fluids constant. But what about all the sugars, additives, dyes and chemicals that are added to Pedialyte and Gatorade? Do you really want to add toxins and chemicals into your sick child's little body? Of course not! You want to add the electrolytes nature intended to supply. Common symptoms of Electrolyte Imbalance are:
As for your body, the major electrolytes are as follows:
